Dannie Devoll, the man accused of murdering a man in Zanesville on July 2, pleaded not guilty for the second time.

Devoll appeared before Judge Kelly Cottrill for an arraignment in the Muskingum County Court of Common Pleas on Wednesday morning. He entered into a plea of not guilty on one count of felonious assault, a 2nd degree felony, and one count of murder, an unclassified felony.

This is the second time that Devoll has been arraigned. He pleaded not guilty during an arraignment on July 18 to one count of aggravated murder, an unclassified felony, and two counts of tampering with evidence, a 3rd degree felony.

According to Assistant Prosecutor Ron Welch, upon further investigation of the situation from July 2, two additional charges were added onto the existing three charges which created a separate case.

Devoll has pleaded not guilty to all five charges in the two separate cases. The two cases will be combined into one case in the future, Welch said.

The cases are a result of an incident on Putnam Avenue.

Eric Stevens, 29, was stabbed in the parking lot between Trulight Ministries and Putnam Beer Docks. He later died due to his injuries.

Devoll’s bond still remains at $500,000.

He is set to appear for a trial in the Court of Common Pleas on Sept. 11.
