Bell Street to remain closed through Friday

By Staff Report

A popular access road near the Genesis HealthCare System complex in Zanesville is currently closed to traffic.

Bell Steet, which many employees, visitors and patients use to access medical facilities is undergoing construction.

According to the City’s Engineering Division, a portion of the roadway will be likely closed through the end of the week.

Bell Street between Maple Avenue and Bethesda Drive is closed to vehicular traffic as crews dig up the roadway for service connections.

Currently under construction, the Genesis Orthopedic Center, needs to be connected to existing utilities.

That requires closing the roadway so crews can complete their work.

While planned to be impassable all week until construction is fully finished, unofficially, it appears the roadway is being opened nightly to alleviate congestion.

Signs are posted along connecting roads offering recommended detour routes.

Motorists are asked to not use Genesis roadways and parking lots as thoroughfares.

The Ohio Department of Transportation does not have a daily average vehicle count, but a large volume of traffic is known to use that section of roadway.
