Drivers heading toward Linden Avenue saw a significant amount of smoke coming from Farm Supply Center Inc. on Tuesday evening.

Firefighters were alerted to a possible structure fire at around 6:20 p.m. at the business located at 411 Linden Ave.

Upon arriving, it was discovered that a piece of equipment, a front loader, located inside the building had caught fire.

According to Acting Assistant Chief Les George with the Zanesville Fire Department, none of the building caught fire, although damage to a part of the building was sustained due to the heat from the fire.

No one was inside at the time of the fire.

A nearby neighbor said employees typically leave the business around 5 p.m.

It’s unclear as to how the front loader caught fire. The situation is still under investigation by the Zanesville Fire Department.

George said the company will be able to resume operation as normal.

Falls and Washington Township fire departments were on scene, as well as Community Ambulance and the Zanesville Police Department.
