Zanesville man accused of killing wife pleads not guilty to all charges

A courtroom filled with about 25 relatives and friends of the victim of a New Year’s Eve homicide were in the Muskingum County Courthouse Wednesday morning for the arraignment of  Dustin R. Cox. 

Cox, 24, is accused of shooting and killing his wife, 21 year-old Martisa Palmer, during the early morning hours of Dec. 31.

During his arraignment, Cox pleaded not guilty to one count of aggravated murder with a firearm, an unclassified felony, one count of tampering with evidence with a firearm specification, a third-degree felony, and one count of murder, an unclassified felony.

In a previous report, Zanesville Police said they were called to a home at 609 Pershing Rd. around 3:21 a.m. for a disturbance where they later found the victim’s body.

According to a press release from Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury, Cox was later found in a parked vehicle outside a south east Zanesville residence later that afternoon.

Cox is currently being held in the Muskingum County Jail on a $1 million bond.
