Victoria’s Secret leaves Colony Square Mall
June 26, 2020
The Colony Square Mall has lost another store following the economic effects of the Coronavirus pandemic and the forced closure of many retail establishments.
Victoria’s Secret, which was located near the Cafe Court, removed its signage and placed black tarps over the windows, signifying the closure of the store.
The company had announced publically in May that they intended to close around 250 stores in the United States and Canada, but have yet to provide a comprehensive list of stores slated to be closed.
“It is unfortunate that Victoria’s Secret is closing as they have been a valued tenant and partner in our community for many, many years,” said Cassandra Small on behalf of the Colony Square Mall. “We are all in this together and as we emerge from this crisis, we will keep focusing on our great store line up and continue to search for new retailers for Zanesville and the community, at large.”
L Brands, which owns Bath & Body Works, announced that the store located inside the mall would reopen on Friday, July 3.

The mall has been in a downward spiral for the last 10 years. The current owner of the mall has been quietly and unsuccessfully looking for a buyer for years because they see the writing on the wall – brick and mortar retail is history.
