December 10, 2019
A woman has died as a result of a head-on collision on Northpointe Drive Monday afternoon that injured four others.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Zanesville Post, the passenger of a Cadillac struck by a Mazda that went left-of-center died during a medical procedure at Genesis Hospital.
She is not being identified by law enforcement at this time.
Lieutenant Russell Pasqualetti said the woman driving the Mazda Protégé 5 south on Northpointe lost control, went left of center and crossed into the other lane where she hit a Cadillac headed north.
All five adults involved were taken to Genesis Hospital, including three from the Cadillac and two from the Mazda.
The impact tore the front end of the Mazda open and sent the Cadillac into the ditch.
Originally, police believed the man and woman in the Mazda received the most serious of the injuries.
“The driver is in extremely serious condition,” said Pasqualetti.
However, it was a passenger of the other vehicle who perished.
The pair from the Mazda and an individual from the Cadillac have been taken to Grant Medical Center in Columbus in critical condition while the remaining occupant of the Cadillac remains in stable condition.
A crash reconstructionist with OSP was on scene investigating. Charges are pending.
