Authorities now have answers pertaining to the body of a Frazeysburg man found in a field along SR-16 near the SR-586 off-ramp in late May.

After further investigation, the death of 53 year-old Brian Cope has been ruled a suicide, according to Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz.

Lutz explained Cope’s missing cell phone made the case suspicious and couldn’t be closed until it was recovered.

According to Lutz, Cope stabbed himself at his home before driving to the location where he eventually died.

His body was found around 10:20 a.m. on May 19.
