The City of Zanesville has condemned the structure at the location of the house fire off Wayne Avenue that occurred earlier today.

Tim Smith, the Building Official for the City of Zanesville, said the property has been condemned and posted. People are instructed to stay off the property for 48 hours to give the fire department time to complete its investigation.

“It’s pretty much destroyed,” Smith said. “I’ll have to talk to the owner to see if he’s got any insurance, but more likely than not it’s coming down.”

If the property owner does not have insurance the city will be in charge of tearing the structure down.
