Weekend Planner: June 29 – July 1

Summer is bringing out plenty of events in Zanesville and around Muskingum County. Here’s a guide to keep every local busy all weekend long. Have a weekend event that needs added to the list? Email us at contact@ycitynews.com.

Friday, June 29:

  • Seussical Kids Performance presented by ZCT Day Camp 2018 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Zanesville Community Theatre, Inc. Click here for tickets.
  • Joe Rollin Porter is performing live from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. at Weasel Boy Brewing. Porter is an artist from Cleveland, OH who plays primarily American folk, early rural blues and Celtic flavor.
  • Great Grilling Zanesville: Steak Sandwiches at Riesbeck’s from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Riesbeck’s is bringing back their steak sandwich as part of their “great grilling season,” according to the Facebook event. People can get a sandwich, bag of chips and water for $8.
  • The Brady Israel Trio is performing live from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Bryan Place. The Brady Israel Trio plays jazz and blues music.

Saturday, June 30:

  • Zanesville Farmer’s Market from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Fairgrounds on Pershing Road.
  • People’s Choice Car Show hosted by Dresden County from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event will take place on Main Street in Dresden. All types of cars are welcome at the show. To register your car call 740.519.9080. The event will take place in rain or shine.
  • Tarot Readings hosted by Fathoming Fish Tarot Services and Gemini’s Eclectic Emporium is from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. at Gemini’s Eclectic Emporium. Half-hour sessions are $30 and hour-long session are $50. To reserve a spot, call/text 740.995.9617. For more information click here.
  • Genealogy Workshop at the John McIntire Public Library from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event is hosted by The Muskingum County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society. The event is focusing on utilizing free websites. Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop or tablet.
  • Ales for ALS Event at Y-Bridge Brewing Company from 1 p.m. to 11 pm. Pints of a special ale brewed with hops donated by Loftus Ranches and YCH Hops will be available. $1 of every pint of the special ale plus proceeds from raffles, 50/50, T-shirt sales and cash donations will be donated to the ALS Therapy Development Institute.
  • Girl UpCycled Studio is hosting a Painted Pallet home décor class from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The event is $35, a $10 deposit to secure a spot and $25 due upon arrival. The guided class will help participants paint finish on pallet board using DIY clay-based paint. For more information click here.
  • Lorena Sternwheeler Public Rides from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Zane’s Landing Park. The sternwheeler travels up the Muskingum River Trail. No reservations are required but guests are asked to arrive 20 minutes before they plan to ride. Seniors ride for $7, Adults ride for $8 and children ride for $4.
  • The Wilds Sunset Safari Tour at 4:30 p.m. Guests enjoy a buffet-style dinner before boarding a safari vehicle to see the animals up close in their open-range habitats. The tour includes a behind-the-scenes viewing of the property. It’s $75 per person or $70 per person for members. Make your reservation here.
  • Bob Ross is performing live from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. at Weasel Boy Brewing. Ross is a guitarist with a “warm woody tone,” according to the Facebook event.

Sunday, July 1:

  • J & D Customs first Annual Fury (Across the) Nation Ride kicks off. The event is listed as beginning July 1 but the riding begins on July 3 with the Basket Case Ride, then July 4 Triple Nickle Ride with prizes, trophies and fireworks and finishing up on July 5 with the Big Muskie Ride.   • Zanesville Memorial Concert Band’s free concert from 7:10 p.m. – 9:10 p.m. at Secrest Auditorium. The event is family-friendly. A “free patriotic spectacular concert,” the Facebook page states.
