During Vice President Mike Pence’s speech Wednesday evening the crowd of mostly republican, Trump supporters had mixed reactions to a call of praise of Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

Pence called the governor’s leadership “strong and consistent,” as the state battles the Coronavirus, touting his “rational” approach to handling the situation.

Front rows of mostly VIPs and elected officials, as well as special invited guests could be seen and heard cheering on the governor, while crowds near the middle and the rear could be heard booing.

During Thursday afternoon’s twice-weekly press conference with DeWine, Toledo Blade reporter Jim Provance asked the governor for his thoughts on the reaction.

“Look we are making tough decisions, we understand this is a tough time,” said DeWine.

The governor then went on to say that he understands those who are unemployed or were negatively impacted by his executive orders or actions might be upset.

DeWine continued by saying that certain Ohioans disagree with his mask mandate as another reason for the mixed reactions.

“I’m going to continue to focus on what I need to do, it’s my job,” said DeWine. “It’s what people elected me to do and we’ll keep doing that.”
