The Muskingum valley area will be well represented this Friday at the state tournament held in Columbus, Ohio at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Nine area schools will be represented over the weekend, including Tri-Valley, Sheridan, Morgan, Philo, New Lexington, Bishop Rosecrans, Maysville, Crooksville and John Glenn High Schools.

The largest presence will be Sheridan, who boasts 11 team members, including senior Ethan Tabor, who smashed records at the Muskingum Valley League meet with wins in four events and new meet records in long jump, 200-meter and 100-meter hurdles. This will be Tabor’s third state meet.

A collection of four schools — Tri-Valley, Bishop Rosecrans, Philo and Morgan — will have just one competitor in the two-day event. Those sole representatives of their schools will be Caden Sauerbrey in the 3200 for the Scotties, Jack Nash of Bishops in the 400-meters, Carson Stottsberry in the long jump from the Electrics and Cade Mollahan representing the Raiders in the pole vault.

John Glenn, who is coming off a second-place finish in the MVL meet, will be looking to Karlie Zumbro for a repeat performance of her last time out. Winner of the 100-meters, 300-meters hurdles and long jump at the divisional meet, she could be vital in the Muskies quest for a state title.

The tournament begins on Friday at 9:30 a.m. with the Division III girls 4×800-meter relay and will conclude Saturday evening with the Division I 4×400 boys relay at 6:50 p.m.
