A murder investigation is underway after the body of a missing Coshocton man was recovered in Muskingum County late Friday night along SR 93 at the county border.

On Jan. 21, law enforcement began investigating 50 year-old Gilbert Dale Walton’s disappearance.

According to a statement from the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office, information began to trickle in to investigators suggesting foul play was involved, leading to the execution of a search warrant on Jan. 22.

The investigation at a home in the 200 block of Biggs Ave. in Conesville led to the seizure of several items as evidence, as well as a motor vehicle. Additionally, officers took two women and one man into custody.

Two have since been released, but one woman still remains in custody with charges pending.

Excluding the location of where Walton’s body was found, the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office does not believe Muskingum County was involved in any further elements of the crime.

Assisting in the investigation are the Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office, the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, the Muskingum County Coroner’s Office, Dellroy Fire K-9 and Prince’s Wrecker.

Coshocton County Sheriff Timothy Rogers is asking anyone with information to contact his office.
