In July, a then 24 year-old woman was added to the Muskingum County Most Wanted List — one month prior, the woman’s 50 year-old boyfriend was sentenced to nearly a decade in prison for attempting to rape a teenage girl.

Now 25 years-old, Amber Poling, also known as Amber Holley, sits in the Muskingum County Jail after being booked on Jan. 8.

On Wednesday, Poling pleaded not guilty at her arraignment to one first-degree felony count of complicity to rape, one fourth-degree felony count of gross sexual imposition and one fourth-degree felony count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Back in June, Poling’s now 50 year-old boyfriend was sentenced to nine and a half years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one second-degree felony count of attempted rape, one third-degree felony count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and two fourth-degree felony counts of gross sexual imposition.

The actions that led to his charges stemmed from a party that Waddell facilitated in which he provided teenagers with alcohol. A 15 year-old girl who had become intoxicated at the party went into a bedroom with her boyfriend. Waddell and his girlfriend, Poling, followed the young couple, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Ron Welch said in court during Waddell’s sentencing hearing.

Upon entering the bedroom, the older couple convinced the victim’s boyfriend to return to the party before climbing into bed with the victim.

Waddell began touching the girl in intimate areas. At first, the victim was not comprehending the situation due to her level of intoxication. When she became aware of the situation, she jumped up and ran out of the bedroom, Welch said.

Later on, Waddell asked the girl if she had a good time.

When authorities questioned Waddell, he described his level of intoxication, as well as Poling’s, as an eight out of 10, and said the girl was roughly a two to three out of 10, Welch said.

Poling’s felony case was filed in May 2019, although she was placed on the most wanted list in July 2019 and was not booked into jail until Jan. 8, 2020.

According to court records, Waddell and Poling both lived at 215 Corwin Ave. in Zanesville.

A woman who also lived at that address was sentenced to local jail time through Zanesville Municipal Court after being charged with multiple counts of cruelty to companion animals.

On May 3, a dozen dogs were rescued from the Corwin Avenue home after the Muskingum County Dog Warden and Adoption Center received a call about two dead dogs in the home’s basement with a third dog eating the carcasses.

All 12 dogs were in Sharilinea Newell’s home on Corwin Avenue, although she only claimed ownership of two of the animals.

While Newell was in possession of all 12 dogs, as they were living in her home, 10 of them belonged to various people who were not in the home.

According to Carolyn Hughes, Muskingum County Humane Officer, two of the owners of the 10 dogs were incarcerated at the time and another was unable to be located.

It’s unclear if any of the animals were Poling’s dogs.

Poling remains in Muskingum County Jail on a $100,000 bond pending the proceeding of her court case.
