Center Drive loses speed humps for winter
November 15, 2019
Speed humps along Center Drive have been removed in preparation for winter weather.
In August, speed humps were installed along Center Drive in an effort to reduce traffic and speed in the area.
The humps have since been removed from the roadway in preparation for more inclement weather, which City of Zanesville Engineer Chip Saunders said was the plan from the beginning.

Prior to the installation of the speed humps, a survey was conducted to collect data regarding how many vehicles were traveling along Center Drive and at what speeds.
Last week, prior to the removal of the humps, another survey was conducted to collect additional data to see how many vehicles use the roadway and at what speeds they were traveling with the speed humps in place.
Saunders said that the data in both instances was collected over a 24-hour time period. Once the data is available, it will be compared to see if there were any differences in traffic patterns between when the speed humps were on the roadway and when they were not.
When looking at the data, Saunders said the organizers of the project are ideally looking for a decrease in both traffic and speed, although he’s unsure of the results the data will produce.
Upon comparing the data, a decision will be made about reinstalling the humps in the spring.
Since the installation of the humps, there has not been much feedback as to whether residents in the area find the humps beneficial or not, Saunders said.
He added that there was a significant amount of feedback and request to do something about the roadway and ultimately it was decided that speed humps, despite the cost, would be a cost effective way to attempt to address the problem.

There is a lot of better thi have to spend money on Instead the rich privileged s.o.b that live on center drive e have them install there own or go by the rights and make it a gated comunity.

Just goes to show ya… Democrat, wishy-washy, Mayor Tilton giving to the rich!
Now we’ll be paying that labor to pick them up, and put them down every year.. Tired of the rich getting it all, while the rest of us just get taxed!
Take a Look at some of the streets, and alleyways in this town that have needed replaced, and the crappy repair done by overpaid do-littles all over this city sucking on the city’s tit, but doing very little while they make more money an hour than the people that half-add their job… But they still get paid!
Yet the city sends letters to homeowners whose property isn’t “up to city specks” yet we drive on roads that beat the fenders from our cars!!!
Its been a real eye opener for me living in this city for the last 8 years… I get to see the waste of my taxdollars first hand, every day…. And when I complain about it…. They swear they are doing their best…. But their best would have gotten me fired from every job I ever worked at…. Because their best… Is the shoddiest job I have ever witnessed!!!
