Tornado sirens sounded across the county just before 5 p.m. as northeastern Muskingum County was under a tornado warning.

The county was also under a severe thunderstorm warning and watch.

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh issued both warnings for the area until 5:15 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m.

The NWS was advising those in affected areas, including northeastern Muskingum County, to take cover and move into a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a stable building.

Many homes across the county have been affected by power outages since the beginning of the storms.
