Thursday afternoon, a two vehicle accident at the end of Moxahala Avenue sent both drivers to the hospital.

Around 2:40 p.m., a gold Saturn four-door was driving south on Moxahala Avenue to turn left onto SR 719, and a red Chevy pickup truck was driving west through the intersection when the two collided.

Both the driver of the car and the driver of the truck were taken to the hospital with moderate and minor injuries, respectively, a Zanesville firefighter on scene said.

Aside from the drivers, no other occupants were in the vehicles.

ODOT was notified and arrived on scene just before 3:30 p.m. as oil leaking from the vehicles was not coming off the roadway.

Traffic was obstructed, but at least one lane remained open in all directions.

The accident is under investigation.

Zanesville Fire and Police Departments, as well as Genesis Community Ambulance and ODOT responded to the scene.
