Columbia Gas of Ohio has shut off gas services to about 600 customers located on the south side of Zanesville.

Crews are visiting residences in the area around Pine Street to shut off each customer’s gas.

Mayor Jeff Tilton said the company is turning off gas services as they assess issues concerning why some customers were without gas.

AEP is assisting Columbia Gas to turn off electricity to the affected area while the situation is addressed.

“This is being done out of an abundance of caution,” Columbia Gas personnel stated in a release.

Customers that have special needs or medical concerns should contact Columbia Gas at 1.800.344.4077.

EMA Director Jeff Jadwin will be sending out a reverse 911 message when a map of the entire affected area is submitted by Columbia Gas.
