Authorities have taken a person into custody after a man was shot on Schaum Avenue in Zanesville Monday evening.

Tuesday afternoon, police arrested one individual related to the shooting at the Super 8 hotel on National Road in Zanesville. A firearm was recovered during the arrest, Zanesville Public Safety Director Keane Toney said.

Zanesville Police Department detectives executed a search warrant at 523 Schaum Ave. Tuesday where the shooting occurred Monday evening.

The victim of the shooting sustained what are likely non-life-threatening injuries, Toney said.

The Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office is involved in a joint investigation with ZPD.

No names or the circumstances surrounding the shooting have been released at this time as the case is still under investigation.
