The investigation of a fire that killed a 74 year-old New Concord man is still ongoing.

While an exact cause has not been determined, Chief Brent Gates of the New Concord Fire Department believes it was heating related.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to a mobile home on Friendship Drive, north of the village.

The caller, Paul “Skip” Kyser, was inside when firefighters arrived about 10 minutes later.

Gates believes Kyser died of smoke inhalation.

When the first crew arrived on scene, Gates said the trailer was already involved in flames and the roof was beginning to collapse.

Also assisting on scene were the Adamsville, Perry Township and Cassell Station fire departments.

The state fire marshal is involved in the investigation.
