An East Fultonham man increased his felony charges from breaking and entering in one case to domestic violence in another case he gained while on bond.

Travis Pletcher, 43, pleaded guilty in February to breaking and entering charges from his first case and domestic violence, with two or more prior offenses in his second case.

In December, while out on bond, the woman Pletcher was in a relationship with attempted to leave their trailer before he began hitting and kicking her. In an effort to escape, the woman ran to a nearby neighbor’s porch where Pletcher then threatened to kill her and threw a pocket knife at her, according to statements made during his plea hearing.

The pocket knife did not make contact with the victim.

The altercation progressed as the woman ran to another neighbor’s residence where Pletcher picked up a piece of lumber and began hitting the victim, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Gerald Anderson previously stated in court.

The victim suffered cuts, bruising and multiple lumps on her head due to the violence.

Prior to his December case, Pletcher had been charged in four prior domestic violence cases in Muskingum County Court, according to his court records.

He received a two-year sentence on the domestic violence case to be served consecutively to the 12 months imposed on his breaking and entering case.

Pletcher’s breaking and entering charges stemmed from an event where he and the victim in the above mentioned case pulled up to a garage in Roseville and began stealing boxes from inside, Anderson stated during the plea hearing.

According to the woman’s court records, she was sentenced to 11 months in prison for her participation in the breaking and entering case.

During his sentencing, Pletcher’s defense attorney stated that he has struggled with a drug problem since he was young and has a rocky past with his ex-wife.

“I take full responsibility for what I did,” Pletcher said to Judge Kelly Cottrill. “I have a drug problem.”

He went on to state that he is looking to put those incidents behind him and return to his children to help with parenting.
