A man facing a 15-foot, head first drop got tangled in an old TV tower that saved his fall.

Friday afternoon, a Trinway resident climbed up the TV tower in his backyard to get onto his roof. The man slipped and caught his leg in a rung of the tower, saving him from a 15-foot drop.

The Dresden Fire Department was called by a nearby neighbor to help the man get down from the tower as he was stuck upside down.

Assistant Fire Chief David Lacy said it took about 15 minutes to get the man down, but he was examined at the scene and unharmed in the incident.

Lacy added that the man was “very lucky he got caught” in the tower as it saved him from a long drop that would have been head first.
