Firefighters are still working to determine the cause of a fire that left a home severely damaged at 1439 Bluff St. near Linden Avenue Thursday morning.

According to Assistant Chief Doug Vandenbark, around 6 a.m. firefighters from Zanesville and Falls Township were notified from a passerby that a house on Bluff Street was on fire.

When crews arrived on scene, the entire front of the house was involved in flames.

While working the fire, a firefighter sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene. No further information identifying the firefighter or the circumstances surrounding the injury is being released.

Vandenbark said no one was home at the time.

Representatives from the American Red Cross said they will be providing the resident with a place to stay over the weekend.

According to a media release from the Zanesville Fire Department, the home sustained an estimated $70,000 in damage.

Also on scene to assist was ValueCare Ambulance.
