Muskingum County is now under a level two snow emergency as declared by Sheriff Matt Lutz.

Reports of accidents and stranded vehicles have been coming in steady throughout the afternoon and early evening, according to scanner traffic.

Guidelines for a level two snow emergency explain that roadways are declared hazardous with blowing and drifting. It also means that road conditions could be icy. Those driving should only do so if it is necessary and should use extreme caution.

According to District 5 ODOT representative Morgan Overbey, around 22 crews are currently stationed throughout the county treating roads on 12 hour shifts and will continue to do so as snowfall continues.
