Crews from the Ohio Department of Transportation will shut down the on-ramp to I-70 west from Sixth Street starting Thursday to clear up a log jam.

The on-ramp, as well as the merge lane, will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Thursday and into Friday if needed.

ODOT County Manager Phil Valentine said the clearing is routine practice every couple of years as the logs begin to build up under the bridge. The work will be done from the roadway in an effort to dislodge the logs to flow down river.

Exit 153B will remain open during that time.

Drivers are encouraged to use the on-ramp to I-70 West from State Street.

Weather permitting, ODOT estimates the log clearing will be completed Friday.
