Area students will be amongst the 28 high schools from Ohio and West Virginia gathered at Muskingum University this weekend for the 27th annual Instrumental YouthFest.

More than 130 musical performance students were nominated by their high school music teachers to take part in the two-day program, which includes workshops, rehearsals and panel discussions with University students.

Saturday, Nov. 10, is the YouthFest Showcase Concert at 7 p.m. in Brown Chapel, then on Sunday, Nov. 11, Instrumental YouthFest Bands perform at 3 p.m.

Both performances are free and open to the public.

YouthFest students are instructed by Muskingum University faculty and conducted by Muskingum University Professor of Music David Turril and guest conductor Eric Hinton, Director of Bands at Pennsylvania’s Susquehanna University.

Who are local students? I have Grandkids in more than one local school as do many folks.
