In the race for Ohio’s 97th District, Representative Brian Hill (R-OH) will serve his fourth and final term in office.

Unofficial results reported to the State show Brian Hill beat challenger Kristine Geis (D-OH) in a nearly identical race in both Muskingum and Guernsey Counties.

In Muskingum County, home to both candidates, Hill took 68.1 percent of the votes, winning 17,837 to 8,355 votes.

In Guernsey County, Hill claimed 68.8 percent of all votes — 8,430 to 3,809.

This will be Hill’s fourth term representing his district since he first took Troy Balderson’s seat in 2011.

Hill was thankful for all the support he received in the election Tuesday night, saying he looks forward to his final term in office.

“I just want to thank the voters of the Ohio 97th House District for showing the confidence they have in me,” said Hill.

While all precincts are accounted for, official results won’t be released until the end of the month as some absentee ballots are yet to be tabulated.
