Employees at the South Zanesville Great Clips are collecting toys for charity, now through November.

Anyone who drops off a new toy will receive $2 off a haircut.

According to the organizer of the toy drive, Kayla Mardis, all donations will go to the Salvation Army for the Angel Tree program.

For Mardis, this is a chance to give back to the program that helped her when she was a single mother living in low-income housing and unable to buy her child a Christmas present.

“I was lucky that my child was picked, but it broke my heart to see those who hadn’t (been picked),” said Mardis.

If enough toys are donated, Great Clips will be able to sponsor a child’s Christmas this year whose family would otherwise be unable.

If not, Mardis said she and her colleagues will find other ways to support the Salvation Army in its efforts to brighten Christmas day for local families.

“We are super excited and hope this event turns out great so we can continue to do it every year,” said Mardis. “We want to help make a child’s Christmas great.”

Anyone who makes donations made now through Nov. 15 will receive the haircut discount.
