Nickel Valley Resorts is hosting the 19th annual Shrimp Fest Saturday.

Roughly 1,500 to 2,000 pounds of shrimp will be harvested and either sold fresh or cooked a variety of different ways for this weekend’s Shrimp Fest.

From 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. guests can attend the fest and enjoy live music, beer, food tents, shrimp (of course) and more.

For those who don’t fancy seafood, or pond-food in this case, there will be more options than just shrimp.

In the past, the Shrimp Fest has drawn a crowd of 600 to 800 people, although there may be an uptick in attendance this year.

“This year it’s starting to look like it’s going to swell up a little bit, we’re kind of expecting probably a thousand 12 to 1500,” Nickel Valley Resorts Owner, Jim Brown, said.

Due to the anticipated sunshine for the weekend, the swimming park and 40 foot-long water will be open. All guests are welcome at the family-friendly event.

“It’s just a real fun, family affair,” Brown said.

Live shrimp will be sold for $10 per pound as its pulled out of the pond.

The gates open at 11 a.m. with live music beginning at 2 p.m. Admission is $8. Nickel Valley Resorts is located at 33900 Township Rd. 68 in Frazeysburg. Performances will go as follows:

  • Olivia Kight 2 to 4 p.m.
  • Terry Douglas 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Barefoot McCoy 7 to 9 p.m.
  • Bryan Lewis 9 to 11 p.m.
