Road work on Maple Avenue is underway, again, between Country Club Drive and Balls Lane, in front of Genesis Hospital.

The right lane traveling southbound on Maple is blocked off due to work being done by Newman Paving Co., Inc. out of Vinton County.

Work should be completed by the end of the day, a Newman Paving Co. employee said.

About three weeks ago, Columbia Gas of Ohio was working on the same section of Maple Avenue to connect a new service line to the main lines located on the hospital’s side of the street, Media Relations Officer Dave Rau said for a previous article. The new service line was for the Panda Express restaurant that is under construction across the street.

At the time CGO was working on Maple Avenue, Rau said that a temporary fill would patch the hole until permanent repairs were made.

The Newman Paving crew’s work is the permanent repair Rau was referring to.
