High water causes car to hydroplane into pole

By Christine Holmes, News Director

Heavy rain caused a car to hydroplane late Tuesday morning on Blue Avenue and crash into a light pole, bringing the pole and wires down on the car, according to Zanesville Interim Fire Chief Doug Hobson.

It is unclear if the driver was injured in the crash, though Community Ambulance was on scene.

Hobson said AEP cut out power so the driver could safely exit the vehicle and electric crews could later repair the damaged light.

According to Hobson, drivers are almost always encouraged to stay in their vehicles when electric wires are involved in a crash.
