Veterans group seeking volunteers to build shelter

By Christine Holmes, News Director

A non-profit organization centered around assisting veterans is searching for volunteers to help turn an old schoolhouse into a new homeless shelter at the Licking-Muskingum County border.

From Saturday, July 28 at noon through August 1, the VALOR Clinic Foundation will be working at 10329 Pleasant Valley Road in Frazeysburg.

The group is specifically in need of anyone with framing or drywall skills to stop by and lend a hand.

Kevin’s House, the name of the future shelter, will serve as a safe place for homeless veterans to receive the training and counseling needed in order to transition back into society after facing certain psychological barriers that previously kept them from living a functional, post-duty life.
