The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred Sunday evening in Newton Township.

According to troopers, the crash occurred around 7 p.m. near milepost 3 of US-22.

Dusty R. Melvin, 37 of Zanesville, was traveling eastbound when he went off the right side of the roadway, striking an embankment, and overturned.

Melvin was transported by squad to Genesis Hospital where he later died from his injuries

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted by Newton Township Fire & EMS personnel.

The crash remains under investigation.
