Nautilus 24/7 Fitness announced on its Facebook page late last week that they would not be reopening.

“I wanted to start by first apologizing to you all for the delay in breaking word on the happenings and or re-opening of Nautilus 24/7 Fitness! But very long story short, and with a heavy heart that I now want to confirm that Nautilus 24/7 Fitness will be closing its doors permanently,” Austin Baker, owner, posted on Facebook.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine ordered gyms, fitness centers, and recreation facilities to close on March 16 due to concerns of the coronavirus. Numerous gyms throughout the state, including the Fieldhouse in Zanesville, filed suit against the Director of the Ohio Department of Health, Amy Acton, on May 13.

The following day on May 14, DeWine announced a tentative reopen date for gyms of May 26 throughout Ohio.

Baker did not elaborate on the Facebook post the reasons for the businesses closure after 43 years of operation but said all questions will be answered in a follow-up post or by personal message.

Multiple individuals commented on the post asking when or if they will be allowed to retrieve items from their lockers and what happens to those who have paid through the end of the year. As of June 2, the comments have gone unanswered publicly.

On April 3, Baker posted on Nautilus’s Facebook page saying “I would like to apologize for drafting your account for the month of April. As many of you may not know, Nautilus is operating 100% as a non-profit organization. I want to ensure each and every one of you will have your membership credited and or have your membership extended.”

The business’s phone line returns a dial tone with an automated response that the phone line has been disconnected.
