The Ohio Department of Transportation has reopened State Route 83 north of New Concord near the border of Muskingum County and Coshocton County as flooding across the area has receded.

Parts of Wills Creek Lake had flooded as the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had limited outflow of the Wills Creek Dam to prevent flooding downstream. As waters lowered engineers increased outflow levels causing the roadway to become passable and ODOT reopened the roadway.

According to ODOT, drivers should never pass through high water on the roadway.
