As Ohioans are urged daily to practice social distancing and limit their social outings in order to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19, local transit continues to operate.

South East Area Transit (SEAT) is assuring passengers that it is operating with caution to prevent the spread of germs.

“Our passengers can rest assured that we are implementing the most rigorous and effective cleaning protocols,” SEAT said in a media release.

The transit system is cleaning its buses, Transit Center and offices with hospital-grade disinfectants.

At the Transit Center, the Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department has provided a hand cleaning station for passengers.

Additionally, employees have been provided with hand sanitizer, and operators are equipped with protective gear, including gloves.

“We are continuing to work with numerous organizations, including the Federal Transit Authority (FTA), Center for Disease Control (CDC), local health departments, and the State of Ohio to take the proper steps needed to prevent the spread of germs,” SEAT stated.

Passengers are highly encouraged to avoid interaction at the Transit Center and on vehicles if possible.

Additionally, passengers are asked to limit the number of people traveling with them to appointments.
