Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced Friday afternoon 13 cases of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in the state. Moments later, Director of the Ohio Department of Health, Doctor Amy Acton said that number has already grown.

Acton said there are now 14 individuals — nine males and five females — with the Coronavirus.

According to Acton, their ages range from 34 to 66 with the median being 48.

Additionally, Acton said there are 50 negative cases in the state and another 159 under investigation.

In Muskingum County, there are zero confirmed cases at this time.

On Thursday, DeWine warned the public to expect cases to continue to grow.

“It will double in six days, and that just continues on and on and on,” said DeWine.

According to DeWine, more testing is occurring and the number of confirmed was fully predictable.

“None of this should surprise us,” said DeWine. “None of this should alarm us.”

Under the advisement of health experts, DeWine said he believes many people in Ohio are already carrying the virus today.

“At some point, it’s not going to be news anymore,” said DeWine.
