A barn fire Saturday morning along SR-93 kept multiple local area fire departments busy as they battled the blaze in Salem Township.

According to Adamsville Fire Chief Dave Wortman, the call came in around 7:30 a.m. with all three departments arriving on scene around the same time.

When firefighters arrived they found a large barn and various farming equipment on fire, Wortman continued.

While the fire is still under investigation, Wortman said it’s possible the fire was caused by a heater in the barn, used to keep pigs warm in the cold weather.

The barn is considered a total loss, while the farming equipment and adjacent shed might be salvageable.

On a Facebook post by the Adamsville Fire Department, the owners of the barn thanked all the first responders for their assistance.

Adamsville Fire Department was aided by both Perry and Washington Township Fire Departments.
