Eighth grade student arrested for bringing steak knife to school in backpack

An eighth-grade student faces juvenile prosecution through the Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office after bringing a knife to school Monday.
According to Zanesville Police Chief Tony Coury, officers were called to Bishop Fenwick School around noon Monday after a 12 year-old boy was found with a steak knife in his backpack.
Both Coury and Prosecutor Mike Haddox said while no threats were made with the knife, it is a crime to have such weapons in a school building.
The student was arrested taken to the juvenile detention center to await charges.
