The suspect arrested after a male was shot in Hopewell Township Tuesday has been released from jail.

According to Sheriff Matt Lutz, prosecutors are asking detectives from the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office to further investigate the case before charges can be filed.

On Tuesday, Lutz said first responders were called to a scene on Coopermill Road around 3:15 p.m. for a male that had been shot.

The victim and witnesses spoke to authorities on scene before the injured person was taken to Genesis Hospital where he remains in serious but stable condition.

While investigating, Lutz said law enforcement discovered there was a second scene where the shooting occurred that led them to 9070 Macedonia Rd. in Hopewell.

Three individuals were detained at the house for questioning before one was ultimately taken into custody.
