Grand jurors in Perry County have indicted a New Lexington man in the 2017 death of 35 year-old Megan Lyons of Somerset.

According to a release from Sheriff William Barker, 29 year-old Dustin Edward Groff sold the fentanyl to Lyons that caused her death.

Groff has since been charged with involuntary manslaughter — a first-degree felony, corrupting another with drugs — a second-degree felony, engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity — a first-degree felony,  trafficking heroin — a second-degree felony, and two counts of trafficking fentanyl — fourth and fifth-degree felonies.

On May 4, 2017, Lyons was found unresponsive at a home on Township Road 124 NE in Somerset.

Deputies from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office and Somerset EMS personnel performed life-saving measures in an attempt to save her before she was transported to Fairfield Medical Center.

She died three days later, the release states.

Deputies found fentanyl and other drug paraphernalia in the bathroom where Lyons overdosed.

Following an investigation conducted by the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force, charges were filed against Groff linked to Lyons’ death.

Groff is currently incarcerated at the Southeastern Correctional Institution after he was convicted of attempted retaliation for trying to solicit an inmate at another institution to assault a witness cooperating with authorities investigating Lyons’ death.

Groff’s latest case will be heard before Perry County Common Pleas Judge Tina Boyer.
