About 3,400 AEP customers are without power following outages across the City of Zanesville, the Village of South Zanesville and beyond.

According to the AEP Ohio Outage Map, the outages in Zanesville and South Zanesville all originated between 11:08 a.m. and 11:16 a.m. The current restoration time for all of the outages is 4:30 p.m., although that time is subject to change.

One outage that occurred at 11:08 a.m. stretches across Zanesville and South Zanesville but spans from Thornville to Barnesville.

A media representative from AEP said crews are currently en route to assess the cause of the outages as it is unknown at this time.

The outage map originally said about 1,500 customers were affected, but the representative said the number has since grown.

Traffic lights in the affected areas should be treated as four-way stops if they are not functioning properly.
