Donation from Century National Bank now makes Zanesville Museum of Art free to all
October 24, 2019
As of Thursday, Oct. 24, admission to the Zanesville Museum of Art is now free to all guests, any day of the week for the next three years.
To offset the revenue lost by waiving admission fees, ranging between $4 and $6, Century National Bank stepped in as a financial supporter of the museum.
“I appreciate the opportunity to help advance the Arts in Zanesville and Muskingum County,” said Pat Nash, President of Century National Bank. “Mrs. (Laine) Snyder and her staff have brought distinguished exhibitions to the museum while also providing local artists with a forum in which to highlight their works. I am honored to have a role in creating a greater appreciation in our community.”
Snyder, who serves as executive director of the ZMA, said she was delighted to announce the museum’s free admission initiative, citing ZMA’s founder, Edward Ayers, who in 1943 said “use it, it’s yours.”
“This season, I believe Ayers would be prouder than ever of the museum he founded 83 years ago,” said ZMA Executive Director Laine Snyder.
By waiving the cost of admission, ZMA hopes to support its ongoing initiative of making the museum more relevant within the community.
Annually, the museum sees nearly 12,000 visitors.
The Zanesville Museum of Art and Century National Bank wish to double those numbers over the next several years of the program.

That’s pretty amazing! Zanesville needs more of these kind of recreations open to the public. It opens a whole new world for especially the younger generation. As an amature artist and a Mother, some of the best memorial moments were spent in the countless hours I got to spend with my daughter and all her friends creating something out of nothing. Every town and city is struggling with it economy and the war against drugs, but I can say I’m very proud of Zanesville’s support and encouragement that has created an amazing Art community.
