Car into Steak ‘n Shake closes restaurant
October 8, 2019
Update: According to a Steak n’ Shake team member, the restaurant has since reopened.
A gas leak at Steak ‘n Shake in Downtown Zanesville has shut down the fast-food franchise after a vehicle went over a curb and hit the building early Tuesday afternoon.
Around 12:30 p.m., a woman pulling into Steak ‘n Shake knocked a gas pipe off the meter when she ran into the building.
According to patrolman Mike Brown with the Zanesville Police Department, the woman told officers she was hitting her brakes.
The side of the building sustained a crack in addition to the pipe that was broke away from the meter.
The Zanesville Fire Department shut the gas off to the building to stop it from leaking.
A crew from the Columbia Gas of Ohio arrived on scene around 1 p.m.
Brown said the restaurant would likely be closed until the meter is repaired.
The woman was not cited for the accident, although she will likely be responsible for damages.
No one was injured during the incident.

Wrong idea of “Drive Thru”

Yet another Type 1 or Type 2 right foot pedal error? Happens to drivers of all ages and gender. This is not that complicated. ‘A vehicle did not stop in time’. It does not matter who is at fault. 19 pedestrians and cyclists will die today and we need a solution. Why are those in charge at NHTSA and the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) not wanting to scientifically compare the ‘Killer” right foot braking method with the safer, easier to learn and retain with age, Left Foot Braking Method and either prove it inadequate or adopt it? ‘That’s the way it’s always been taught’, is not a scientific justification. It’s just Tradition and Testosterone. Note: Simply using your left foot to brake is NOT repeat Not the Left Foot Braking Method.
