Wings and wheels assemble at airport
September 27, 2019
Fans of aviation and motors can take a step into the past this weekend at the Zanesville Municipal Airport.
Saturday marks the seventh-annual Fly-in and Car Show commemorating the 75th anniversary of D-Day hosted by the EAA Vintage Chapter 22.
In addition to airplanes, there will be a car show, model engine show, static displays and homemade meals for lunch and breakfast.
The Schubach Big Band will be on site playing hits from the 40s and 50s.
This year’s show features the historic C-47 “Hairless Joe.” For $95, visitors can take a ride in the aircraft. Tours of the plane are free to all veterans and active duty military members.
The cost of admission is $1 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
The full event runs from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27. Most planes and cars depart Sunday, Sept. 28, but the model engine show continues, and rides will still be available on the C-47.
