Two new art exhibitions featuring artists from central Ohio are on display at the Zanesville Museum of Art.

In the Linn Auditorium, guests of the museum will find “Landscapes by Debra Joyce Dawson” for viewing through Feb. 15, 2020.

On display in the White-Gorsuch Works on Paper Gallery is “Anne Cushman and the Art of Print” through March 7, 2020.

Dawson is a Columbus-based plein-air painter with international recognition.

Her paintings capture the unique feature, character and topography of well-known landmarks, rural barns, moored boats and solitary trees.

“The thrill of nature’s ingenuity and diversity took hold of me, and more and more it was the individual things, the smaller things, that I noticed,” said Dawson. “Stands of trees or a particular tree became my focus.”

Cushman, a printmaker from Worthington, is known for exploring both real and imagined geographical environments.

She is a docent at the Columbus Museum of Art and exhibits her work across the globe.

“I am particularly drawn to places where the geology is evident, marking layers of time and history,” stated Cushman. “The vast lay of the land, the flow of rivers, the rush of the sea and the stones that surface become my focus.”
