It’s National Voter Registration Day: A guide for voting in the upcoming election

General Election Day for the 2019 November election is just 42 days away.

Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day, which is encouraging prospective voters to either register to vote or verify their voter registration information.

Zanesville City or Muskingum County residents looking to vote in the upcoming election for a council member, mayor, school board members or other candidates can check their voter registration here: Voter Lookup Information.

Residents who have previously registered to vote but who may have moved or changed their name need to update their voting information.

To update voter information, Ohio voters can click here, and fill out a new voter registration form. At the end of the registration, check the box that indicates “Updating my address” or “Updating my name.”

The Nov. 5 election is offering many contested positions including Zanesville City Mayor, Zanesville City Council at Large, Dresden Mayor, New Concord Mayor, South Zanesville Mayor and 23 other positions. View the entire list of positions and candidates here.

Important dates to keep in mind for the upcoming election include:

  • Monday, Oct. 7: The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 5 election
  • Tuesday, Oct. 8: The first day of in-person early voting, which can be done at the Muskingum County Board of Elections
  • Monday, Nov. 4: The last day of in-person early voting, which ends at 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 5: General Election Day, polls are open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
