Sister held responsible for older brother’s fatal overdose sentenced to prison

A Zanesville woman will be spending the next four years in prison after pleading guilty in the February overdose death of her older brother, 49 year-old Ronald Dusenberry.
According to Muskingum County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Ron Welch, Dusenberry had been visiting 36 year-old Jenell Sellars at her home on Glendale Drive with the intention to “shoot up” with her for his first time.
Welch said Sellars told Dusenberry that she had just received fentanyl from a friend the day before.
After using the drug, Welch said Sellars told investigators they fell asleep around 6 a.m., but when she woke up a few hours later, Dusenberry was no longer breathing.
When first responders arrived, they found Dusenberry unresponsive and without a heartbeat.
He was confirmed dead the morning of Feb. 10.
Last week, Sellars pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, a first-degree felony, and corrupting another with drugs (fentanyl), a second-degree felony.
Welch added during the plea hearing that Sellars had the intention to sell some of her fentanyl supply.
In addition to her four-year prison sentence, Sellars was ordered to pay $3,450 in restitution for funeral costs.
