It’s that time of year — mums are here.

Eastside Community Ministry, in partnership with McDonald’s Greenhouse, is hosting its fourth annual mum sale.

McDonald’s Greenhouse sells mums to Eastside Community Ministry wholesale and allows the organization resells the flowers for a profit to benefit the organization.

The funds raised through the mum sale go toward Eastside Community Ministry’s everyday programming including the food pantry, clothing bank and year-round youth program, Executive Director Jamie Trout said.

Last year, the organization sold 240 mums. This year, Trout is hoping to sell at least 250.

“We’d like to beat our sales from last year,” she said.

As of Wednesday afternoon, orders for 120 mums had been placed.

Mums can be ordered now through 12 p.m. on Sept. 3. Orders can be placed by calling Eastside Community Ministry at 740.452.7519, stopping into Eastside located at 221 Stillwell St. in Zanesville to place an order in-person or by emailing ecm@eastsideministry.org.

Once the orders are finalized and submitted, McDonald’s Greenhouse will deliver the mums to Eastside on Sept. 17. Orders can be picked up from the community garden across the street from Eastside Community Ministry on Sept. 17 and Sept. 18 from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Orders of six or more mums can be delivered.

“It’s just an easy way to raise some money but also support locally and we like that we’re supporting a local farm as well in the process,” Trout said. “We try to support all the local businesses so it’s beneficial to them, as well as Eastside.”
