Grand jurors in Guernsey County have indicted a Cambridge mother in connection with her 6 year-old son’s 2018 death.

Tiera Mounts, 29, is charged with the following felonies:

  • One count of murder, and unclassified felony
  • One count of permitting child abuse, a first-degree felony
  • One count of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a first-degree felony
  • Five counts of felonious assault, second-degree felonies
  • 20 counts of endangering children, third-degree felonies
  • Four counts of obstructing justice, third-degree felonies
  • One count of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony

According to the Ohio Attorney General’s Office, which is providing special prosecutors to assist Guernsey County Prosecutor Joel Blue on the case, the charges stem from the events leading up to the death of Wyatt Mounts on April 16, 2018.

According to her indictment, Mounts is accused of repeatedly assaulting her son and trying to conceal the ongoing abuse until he ultimately died from those actions.

In March, Mounts’ boyfriend, Marvin Benson, was convicted of the boy’s murder and was sentenced to life in prison.

Mounts is being held in the Guernsey County Jail on $1 million bond.
