The Muskingum County Farm Bureau raised more than $12,000 for two local charities with nourishment in mind during July’s “Dinner on the Farm” fundraiser and auction.

Hosted by Urban Greens at Zanesville’s Restoration Park on Muskingum Avenue, guests were given a tour of the Urban Greens Program Community Garden and a taste of food and drinks grown or prepared locally.

“The purpose of this event is to connect farmers and community leaders, celebrate local foods, and bring awareness to the work being done Urban Greens and the Muskingum County Hunger Network,” said Andrea Kackley, Organization Director for Farm Bureau.

In addition to ticket sales, funds raised through the evening’s auction put the total at $12,250 to be split between the Muskingum County Hunger Network and Urban Greens at $6,125 a piece.

“This event continues to be a wonderful evening to celebrate agriculture and the communities we live in,” said Kackley. “We would like to thank Urban Greens and Restoration Park for hosting, all those who attended, those that sponsored the event with monetary donations, food products or auction items, and those that participated in the auction. We know the funds raised will go to good use in our community.”
